Infrared Quartz Resistors

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS

Among the most efficient heat transmission methods, there are the infrared electric heaters. The first experiments on the effects produced by infrared irradiations showing beyond any doubt, how the heat can be transmitted thanks to an invisible form of light, so called infrared, date back to 1800, when the German physicist Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel, in measuring the heat of different coloured light bands, discovered that the temperature of a mercury thermometer positioned within the spectrum produced by a glass prism, continued to rise even repositioning it beyond the spectrum red border, where the light was no longer visible

EVERWATT infrared electric heaters for air heating, commonly used for all the applications requiring the air heating by infrared rays, are mainly subdivided into:

  1. Infrared ceramic electric resistors
  2. Quartz electric heaters
  3. Medium-waves infrared electric lamps

Typical uses

Among the main uses of this infrared heaters typology , it can be found:

Infrared rays general characteristics and properties

The heat propagates by irradiation when the thermal energy is transmitted from a hot body to a cold one, by means of electro-magnetic waves called infrared waves, which are irradiated at the light speed (3 x 10 cm/sec.), in similar way as the light irradiations. The infrared rays generated, when meeting a body, according to the irradiated material nature, surface quality and radiations themselves wave length, generate refraction, reflection, absorption and diffusion phenomena. Among these radiations, only those with wave length ranging from 2 to 4 microns (medium-waves) have the highest penetration power into almost all substances.

STANDARD INFRARED HEATERS INDICATED IN THE CATALOGUE

When these resistors are used in standard conditions, we have available a stock of standard heaters of different power, in quartz and ceramic versions, mainly subdivided according to sizes, supply voltage and standard type power.
